Why book your vacation online?

Online booking is more popular than ever

Online booking saves customers both time and money and gives them more freedom and convenience when they travel. Customers can book rooms and change their plans at any time without needing to find travel agents or other places to stay.

Background

Hotels are always thought of as a very competitive market in the tourism industry.

Having a hassle-free online booking experience, will maximise the number of reservations made for at hotel and promoting the hotel’s image.

Problem

Users are having a difficult time navigating the booking process.

Through user research it was found that crowded UI designs and poor information architecture were common amongst competitor websites.

Solution

Design UI elements for the booking process

Through multiple rounds of iteration and design critiques, I’ve explored different UI layouts for each stage of the online booking process. Each has its unique benefits, so it was important to get assist from the user research to test and make a data-driven decision.

01

Efficient Room Selection Page

Instead of listing all the rooms from top to bottom, the rooms are listed from left to right. Which allows users to scroll through other rooms while still viewing the current room in the main viewport. The user is able to compare prices, details, and images without committing to a click.

02

Easily accessible booking summary

By incorporating a Booking Summary Tab attached to the side of the screen. Users are always able to access their booking information at any stage of the booking process.

03

Categorisation of Hotel Add-ons

By improving the categorisation of the hotel add-ons, users are able to make more informed decisions and easily find add-ons they’d like to purchase.

04

Clickable progress bar

Implementing a clickable progress bar allows users to specifically retrace their steps throughout the booking process.
